Happy birthday David - three years ago to this day we watched Anno's dust rise into a foggy Milanese sky, seemingly part the mist to reveal the dazzling blue beyond - then drift on across the cemetery until, to our amazement, we saw them disappear above the very section of freeway where the crash had happened. Just one of the many, many coincidences that continue to astonish. All love to you David, how courageous you've been and how proud - and lucky - Anno and Ned are to have you as their brother. xxx

What happened to Anno's photo archive? It was brilliant!

Dear Anno,

Three years have passed since the fateful day I thought
to write you to remind you of my solidarity and
sympathy.
Indeed, as Andrew mentioned "every day another life is
touched by your legacy."
It is truly great that you keep living on in so many
people's minds and souls, and your love to all has been
expanding in many different corners of the world --
even in Japan -- every moment another one.
I,too, feel very much privileged and grateful to know of
you and your work, Anno....

Your oriental soul-mate -- Miro

I bought a copy of 'Who said the race is over?' and it must be said - what an amazing talent Anno possesses! It's one of only a few books I'll never tire of. His words are beautiful. Yay for Anno.

What a wonderful fix - thank you, Anno!!
"I can hear the gods from here - they're screaming!
Agitated! Fearful that these fateful souls
will not be wrapped in sunshine, gold and snow."

It ia a great tragedy that those with so much talent die so young. Small comfort but I quote from Alexander the Great who also died young "I would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity."

Poetry is a distillation of all things unbearable, good and bad.
You get drunk on the result.

I've spent a happy two hours exploring Anno's photo archive and watching him grow from a bouncing baby into a glorious young man. He always LOOKS so much happier than his poetry would suggest, which was the real Anno I wonder?

Each sunrise lights the world with promise,
Every dawn brings hope, reborn.
